Risk Movie

Risk MovieThere's a live-action movie adaptation of the classic board game Risk ahead of us! Sony has indeed bought the movie rights to the strategy game from Hasbro. The film will be produced and developed by Hasbro and Overbrook Entertainment. A few words from Producer James Lassiter about the Risk movie:

"We are excited to be working with Hasbro and Columbia Pictures on bringing such a beloved and well-known game to life on the big screen. We have two television projects currently in development with Hasbro Studios and look forward to this collaboration."
Producer James Lassiter

And from Brian Goldner, President and CEO of Hasbro:

"We are thrilled to be working with tremendous partners like Sony Pictures and Overbrook Entertainment on RISK. Like so many of Hasbro's brands, RISK resonates with consumers of multiple generations around the world. We can’t wait to re-imagine this brand into a motion picture."
Brian Goldner, President and CEO of Hasbro

For those who don't know the game, Risk is played on a board depicting a political map of the Earth. The primary object of the game is world domination, or to occupy every territory on the board to eliminate all other players. Players control armies and attempt to capture territories from other players, the results are determined by dice rolls.

The game Risk doesn't really any background story. So the scriptwriters will have license regarding the story of Risk the movie. I guess we may expect a large scale epic war movie. But who's going to be the main villain? Aliens are already involved in the movie adaptation of Battleship, so I guess they won't show up in Risk. So the film will probably deal with human warmongers... China or any other country or religious group would be deemed too controversial by the studios... So are they going to create a fictional enemy?

Anyway, more information about the movie Risk soon!
